To improve the adoption of core features within Salsify ProductXM, a product experience management platform, the design team launched a range of Candu-built in-app banners across their Insights product. The dismissible banners educate users about the value of different Insights reports while connecting them with relevant enablement materials (such as their knowledge base). Bringing this information into the product has made existing content more accessible, helping users understand the range of available reports. Overall, this improved their first-time experience with the Insights product.
Before Candu, when it came to in-app messaging, Brittany and the wider design team relied on Appcues for overlay flows or in-house development to build embedded content. With a desire to free up engineering resources and enhance the in-app experience beyond flows and pop-ups, the design team turned to Candu’s no-code embedded user interface (UI) components to build their own content experiences.
The team quickly turned their Figma designs into a custom Candu template and launched seven banners throughout the Insights module. They focused on creating an in-app experience that felt native to the Salsify platform so users could explore and opt-in to learning experiences at their convenience. The non-intrusive nature of the banner allows the content to stay visible until users dismiss it, providing an effective way to educate over time.
Newly empowered to create UI, the design team can now experiment and iterate quickly as they learn what content drives the most engagement. To measure the overall impact of campaigns like this on product adoption targets, Salsify uses Candu’s integration with Segment to track interactions and engagement with Candu components. By sending data from Candu back to Segment and then into Mixpanel, the design team can understand and analyze the correlation between banner and knowledge base views as well as report creation and configuration in the Insights module.
