The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers Candu.ai's platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and resilient solutions that meet our customers' evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure backend services and APIs.
- Collaborate with front-end engineers, design, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Optimize performance and scalability of existing systems and databases.
- Develop and maintain automated testing and deployment pipelines.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical discussions and architecture decisions.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply them to improve our platform.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong proficiency in languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, or Go. Our backend is written in Scala, and prior experience in this is preferred but not required.
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
- Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes. (We are built on AWS.)
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with a distributed team.
